Service

Snow & Ice Clearance in Berlin

Snow clearing and gritting to meet your safety obligations — reliable service in snow and ice.

Scope of work

What snow and ice clearance with ENAS covers

Winter service covers clearing snow and gritting against ice on footpaths, driveways, car parks and other areas that owners and property managers are responsible for under German winter safety obligations. We carry out clearing in line with Berlin's gritting and clearing requirements, which typically apply on weekdays from 7am to 8pm and on Sundays and public holidays from 9am to 8pm.

Scheduling is based on weather conditions, the agreed service areas and the contractual service window. Required repeat visits and documentation are defined for the individual property and season.

The scope covers footpaths as well as driveways, parking areas, ramps and entrances. For gritting, we use abrasive materials such as grit unless salt is specifically agreed — many Berlin districts restrict salt use for environmental reasons.

We document quantities used and service times, so proof of a fulfilled clearing obligation is available if an incident occurs. We offer snow and ice clearance both as a seasonal contract for the whole winter and as an addition to an existing grounds maintenance contract.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions about snow and ice clearance

Which areas can snow and ice clearance cover?

The agreed area can include pavements, entrances, access roads, courtyards, ramps and other accessible circulation surfaces. Boundaries, priorities and potential obstacles are recorded for each property. The areas covered and the applicable clearing or gritting service are determined solely by the property-specific service agreement.

How does a recurring snow and ice clearance agreement work?

Before the season, the areas, access, agreed service conditions, time windows and documentation are defined. Visits then follow the weather conditions and contractual scope. A clear property survey is important so that responsibilities, material storage and particular risk areas are known and completed work can be documented consistently.

How is the service adapted to changing weather?

Clearing and gritting are adjusted to snow, ice and local conditions within the agreed service scope. Continued precipitation or renewed ice may require further checks or visits. The specific areas, time windows and contractual trigger conditions must be defined in the contract; this does not create blanket availability or response-time guarantees.

What determines the cost of snow and ice clearance?

Relevant factors include the size and type of serviced areas, access, gradients, required equipment and agreed scope. Inspection requirements, documentation, gritting materials and the contractual structure of the season also affect the calculation. A property survey ensures that paths, access roads and particular risk areas are defined correctly.
